West Lancashire College provides high quality education and training to the whole of West Lancashire and surrounding districts, through delivery at main campuses, in the workplace and through community provision. West Lancashire College (Formerly Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College) merged with Newcastle College in August 2007 with the aim of creating a high performing college of national stature that meets the learning and skills aspirations of all the communities it serves.
Since August 2007, the performance of West Lancashire College has improved year on year and the success rates for 2010/11 are in the top 10% of college’s nationally.The college now has over 4500 students and offers a wide range of vocational and work based qualifications. It holds Beacon status in the Further Education sector and was awarded 'Good with outstanding features' at its last Ofsted Inspection in 2012. The college now serves the whole of West Lancashire and surrounding districts, whether through delivery at main campuses, training and development in the workplace or through community provision.
