West Dean College in West Sussex is internationally recognised for conservation and creative arts. It has one of the greatest restored gardens open to the public. Underpinning it all is the vision of founder and Surrealist patron Edward James, connecting today's students and visitors with a rich heritage of arts, craft and creative possibility.
The Edward James Foundation which runs West Dean College and Gardens was established in 1964. It is a charitable company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales. Company no. 6689362 and Charity registration no. 1126084. Peter Benson has been a Trustee of the Foundation since 2002, and Chairman since 2009. A Chartered Accountant, his career with Coopers & Lybrand, now PwC, spanned some forty years, thirty of these as a partner in London.
