The Municipal University of São Caetano do Sul is a pluricurricular municipal higher education institution with didactic and scientific autonomy, administrative, budgetary discipline and execution. The University Academic Structure is formed by the Governing Bodies of Higher Administration (Dean, University Council and the Board of Education and Research). "The University Council (CONSUN) has the task to formulate planning, general guidelines and policies of the University. It is chaired by the Rector and made up of the Pro-rectors, representatives of the course coordinators, faculty and the student body. The Board of Education and Research (CONSEPE) is to oversee and coordinate function at a higher level, the activities of teaching, research and extension. It is chaired by the Rector and composed of the pro-rectors, representatives of the course coordinators, faculty and the student body."
