It is known that the Vienna government repeatedly refused to support this aspiration, especially when, with the following century, the opening of a university in Trieste came to be one of the instances irredentist the local Italian community. The failure to solve the "crucial issue" did not prevent, however, that the city was to acquire of higher education institutions, including non-university. This is the case of the "School of Business", created in 1877 by Baron Pasquale Revoltella, star of Trieste emporiale nineteenth century and the great patron of art and culture, in order to meet the growing needs and professional practices in the fields of trade, navigation and related disciplines.
