Their University was established by Law 11/1989 of July 20, management of the university system of Galicia. The Senate approved Constituent, on 4 February 1992, the Statutes of the University that were published in the DOG of September 17, 1992. Their University sees its essential purpose as a quality public service oriented looking for higher levels of well-being for the whole of society through social progress, scientific and technological within a framework of generally accepted ethical values.
