The Integrated Regional University of High Uruguay and Missions - URI - was born as a result of integration of individual higher education institutions, members of the Geo-Educational District 38. Organized and managed by the regional community, always attentive to the socio-economic and cultural needs of a population, mostly descendants of Italian immigrants, Germans, Poles, Russians, Jews, and many natives, higher education institutions have joined and together they built a new path since contrasts then presented by region: on the one hand the technology, modernization; on the other, the crisis of the agrarian structure. So 14 years ago, they committed themselves to full and integral development of the population from the cultural revival and economic recovery in the region.
