Created in October 23 2000, and effecting its activities in May 2003, in possession of the first effective teachers, the Federal University of Tocantins was born with the mission to make a difference in education and the development of research and projects within the context socio-economic and cultural state. Tocantins is characterized as a multicultural state. The heterogeneous character of its population poses for UFT the challenge of promoting educational practices that raise the standard of living of its people. Education in UFT is developed primarily through its graduate and undergraduate courses, which enable professionals with solid theoretical training and social commitment. Other activities such as extension and research also promote education, producing and disseminating knowledge that will contribute to the State of Tocantins transformation into a space for everyone.
