The Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA) is part of the expansion program of the federal universities in Brazil. A Technical Cooperation Agreement funded by the Ministry of Education, Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) provides for the expansion of higher education in the southern half of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The Federal University of Pampa was created by the federal government to minimize the process of economic stagnation in which it operates, because education enables regional development, seeking to be an agent of the final incorporation of the region to map the development of Rio Grande do Sul.
