The Federal University of Grande Dourados - UFGD born of the dismemberment of the University Center of Dourados, a former CEUD, campuses of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul - UFMS. The CEUD before Pedagogical Centre Dourados - CPD began operating in the city in 1971 and now presents a high growth rate, especially in the 1980s and 1990s. In the 70s, the campuses of Dourados housed the History courses, Letters, Agronomy and Pedagogy. In 1980, the Geography courses, Accounting and Mathematics were deployed. In 1991, the Center houses the course of Biological Sciences and in this decade begins to also run the course in Systems Analysis and the first post-graduate courses, the MSc in Agronomy and history. In 2000, the medical courses were implemented, Law, Management, the Masters in Entomology and Biodiversity Conservation and Geography and the first doctorate in the region, in Agronomy.
