The State University Valley Acaraú (UVA) is a university public state based in the city of Sobral, interior of Ceará. Aiming to promote the development of higher education in the northern region of the state, which acts as a center for dissemination of knowledge, thus occupying placing second largest university state of Ceará. Serves students from all over the north Ceará, with more than 40 municipalities provide bus to college daily.
The Valley State University Acaraú (UVA) was created by Municipal Law No. 214 of 23 of October of 1968 by the prefecture Sobral. Its name comes from the river that runs through the city, the Rio Acaraú.The Executive Branch State through Law No. 10,933 of 10 of October of 1984 created under the Municipal way, the State University Valley Acaraú, with legal personality of public law and administrative, financial, patrimonial, didactic and discipline, based in Municipality of Sobral and jurisdiction throughout the State of Ceará.
