The creation of the State University of Goiás in 1999 by Law 13,456 of 16/04/1999, outlined a promising new reality in the State of Higher Education. Organized as a multicampi University, headquartered in Annapolis is the result of the transformation process of the former State University of Annapolis (UNIANA) and the incorporation of other 12 single higher education institutions, maintained by the Government. Initially the institution was linked organically to the State Department of Education, becoming jurisdiction over the State Department of Science and Technology Goiás from December 29, 1999, with the publication of Decree 5,158. The structure of the UEG has always been a policy for the development of the state of Goias, ensuring public higher education, based on ethical and humanistic principles in order to promote social justice and the full exercise of citizenship, committed to building a more just and egalitarian society.
