The University of Amazonas (UEA) is a public, autonomous university in its educational policy, which aims to promote education, develop scientific knowledge, particularly on the Amazon, together with ethical values able to integrate man in society and improve the quality of existing human resources in the region in which it operates.
On August 3, 2001, his academic activities began, and June 30, 2005, the graduation of its first class was held, with 7,150 students of the Normal Course Higher Teachers Training Program (Proformar) - a project winner of the Millennium Development Goals Award and was appointed by UNESCO (UNESCO) as a model to be followed by other countries. The UEA has more than 20,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and also in graduate school. It is the largest multicampi university of the country, that is, the Brazilian higher education institution with the highest number of units that make up its membership.
