The Salesian Mission of Mato Grosso MSMT, present in the city of Campo Grande since 1925, developing, and many others, also activities in formal education, responding to the wishes of society for higher education, instituted in 1961 the first center Higher Education of the State of Mato Grosso, the Dom Aquino Faculty of Science and Letters Philosophy (FADAFI), with the Education and Languages of courses aimed at training educators. The activities began at the beginning of 1962.
The need to create other colleges came next and, in 1965, the Law Faculty (Fadir) was created. Subsequently came the Faculty of Economics, Management Accounting (FACECA) in 1970 and the School of Social Service (FASO) in 1972. In FADAFI several courses have been created, such as History, Geography, Science (Biology and Mathematics), Philosophy, Psychology, and Teacher Graduation, being a well-established institution of higher education. With a view to a future university, MSMT asked the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC), the integration of faculties, presenting a unified Regiment. They emerged thus the United Catholic Faculties of Mato Grosso (FUCMT) by Opinion No. 1,907 / 76, approved by the Federal Education Council, at the Plenary Session of 6 June 1965. The first Director General of FUCMT was officially Fr. José Scampini.
