The Unicastelo is a higher education institution whose history dates back to the eventful year 1968 when students from around the world manifested by changes in education and society. It was the year of the Prague Spring, the barricades of Paris and the Battle of Maria Antonia was born the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters. Since then, the Unicastelo keeps permanent connection to the continuous advances of global education, which is expressed in its Institutional Development Plan for the period 2006-2015. During his educational saga, the university consolidated in 1971, the creation of the faculty of Economics, Accounting and Business Administration and Physical Education. The course of Business Administration was born a year later. The first courses, authorized in 1971, were recognized during 1974 and Business Administration in 1975. The expansion of course offerings increased so much that at the end of the 80s, the institution had grown to 24 courses graduation. Not by chance, in 1989, won accreditation as a university through Ordinance 374 of the Ministry of Education.
