Universidad Privada del Valle was founded on October 4, 1988 by Ing. M.Sc. Gonzalo Ruiz Martinez, having obtained, in compliance with the Constitution of the State, its legal status by the Supreme Resolution 205336 dated November 4, 1988, signed by the then Constitutional President of the Republic, Dr. Victor Paz Estenssoro, and the Minister of Education. Organic Statute was adopted at its seventy eight articles and Study Plans careers. Subsequently, the Constitutional President of the Republic, Lic. Jaime Paz Zamora, raised the supreme resolution to the rank of Supreme Decree No. 23527, on 17 July 1993.
