Nueva Esparta University is the culmination of a sound educational project that began in the fifties. Start the journey the September 20, 1954 when the operation begins Colegio Nueva Esparta, in a colonial style house, Redoubt Glorieta, in the center of the capital city. The thought of educational projection that has always accompanied its founders Dr. Juan B. Marcano Marcano and Prof. J. Carmona Gladys Marcano, became manifest soon. In September 1957 they founded the School of Industrial Chemistry Later, in 1963, they created the Nueva Esparta Instituto del Este, in the urbanization Campo Alegre. It starts, from that moment, a sharing of educational activities between the Institute and the Institute Centro del Este, time of great efforts, to integrate into harmonious coexistence average preschool, primary and secondary. the perseverance of the founders and promoters of this educational project is rewarded with the building of the center and the expansion of the Institute of the east, which translates to a wide fifth located in Altamira. with the opening in 1970, the building itself has three floors, the school was consolidated with the influx of students from the metropolitan area and the rest of the country. the rise to higher levels of education begins with the creation of the School of Tourism in 1968.
