(March 2012)As background of studies in the region may be mentioned various initiatives such as the founding of a public good, a group of residents of Comodoro Rivadavia, People's University of Patagonia, free private action, which ran from 1943-1950 teaching mid-level teaching and technical expertise and conducting research and outreach patgónicos issues. It was created in 1947 as an initiative of the then military government of Comodoro Rivadavia, Patagonia Superior Studies Institute, which played a positive mission of research publications on Patagonian history. In September 1949, the Senate approved the proposed creation of the National University of Patagonia, with headquarters in Comodoro Rivadavia and Colleges in Trelew, Esquel and Rio Gallegos, but the initiative did not prosper in the Chamber of Deputies. In May 1959 it was launched in Comodoro Rivadavia University Institute of Patagonia, approved by Decree-Law 6,403 of January 11, 1959. The same was organized with a Council, a Rector and the School of Sciences and Humanities .
