In 2010 the Faculty of Humanities and Education launched a training program for practicing teachers in the education system, in the area of ​​Mathematics Education. In October 2010 the participants in these workshops have the University Council a note requesting the opening of a degree in Mathematics and belonging to the area of ​​the exact sciences and technology other careers. Project creation of a degree in Mathematics and Physics is approved by the University Council under Resolution CSU - No. 108/11. In 2012 began its activities a degree in Mathematics and Physics dependent on the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences.
