The National Agrarian University of La Selva, is located in the city of Tingo Maria, capital of the district of Rupa Rupa of the Province of Leoncio Prado in Huanuco: geographically it is located 9º17'08 "south latitude and 75 ° 59'52" of west longitude, 660 meters above sea level and an average annual temperature of 24 ° C.
It was created on February 17, 1964, by Law No. 14912, occupying the site of the former Agricultural Experiment Station Tingo Maria, transferred to the nascent University by the Ministry of Agriculture. It was organized by the National University Mayor de San Marcos and Agraria La Molina. The organizing committee concluded the inauguration of the National Agrarian University of the Jungle, the April 3, 1965, thus initiating academic work. They began to work as academic bodies faculties of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
