It was founded in Costa Rica in the organization of the Church of the Nazarene (headquartered in USA) as an institution of religious education since 1970, with programs Bachelor, Bachelor and Master of Theology. Given the success to make a commitment to collaborate in building up the Church of Jesus Christ through leadership training prepared academically, spiritually motivated and trained according to their gifts, to guide the Church in fulfilling its mission; and in the training of men and women of God to discover and develop their gifts preparing academically, spiritually and technically, to serve God in the Church and in society, in the year 1980 the authorities declared the Church of the Nazarene which was to operate as a university, and continued until 1987, the process to accredit began in CONESUP.
Finally, in October 1992, he gave its verdict CONESUP approval for this institution as legally fungiera University . It began to operate as a university with two distinct schools and then recorded another, these are: the School of Theology School of Ecclesiastical Resources Management, and the School of Education. Every school offers its own courses or programs with the following degrees: Bachelor, Bachelor's and Master.
