Milagro State University, has its origins in the State University of Guayaquil; created in the University Council meeting of June 14, 1969, as Cultural University Extension, through the Faculty of Letters and Science Education. On July 4, 1969 University Extension of Miracle in solemn session that was attended by Dr. Nicolas Castro Benitez, rector of the University of Guayaquil officially opened. University Extension began the academic period 1969 -1970 with 262 students in specializations and Castilian Literature, History and Geography, Physical Mathematical. In 1972 he transferred to the University of Guayaquil ownership of the land where now the University Citadel is located. In 1994 the National Council of Universities and Polytechnics of Ecuador recognizes Extension Milagro and Extension of the University of Guayaquil, this recognition CONUEP is ratified at a meeting of the University Council of August 13, 1999.
