In May 1971 a group of people headed by Lic. Heriberto N. Florence Civic Association created the Popular Education, which will house the university and Gulf Preparatory Academy and English 900, placing its facilities at Oak 104 the eagle colony in the port city of Tampico, Tamaulipas. All this because of the shortage of institutions for secondary education and higher education in the region, and thus initiate preparatory courses in September 1971.
Incorporating Gulf High School of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas is authorized on June 29, 1972. Same is done retroactively from the 71-72 school year. The National Autonomous University of Mexico, on September 10, 1973 provides for the incorporation Bachelor's level studies in economics and philosophy, unique in Tampico and thus forging professionals begin to work for the development of the nation. In 1976 racing Business Administration and Accounting are created, with direct authorization from the Ministry of Education, the same year the School of Philosophy of the UNAM is disincorporated, and is authorized by the SEP the Economy. In October 1979 dies Rector and Founder of this University, being honored for his work by all students and staff teacher.
