Universidad del Azuay born in 1968 and is headquartered in the city of Cuenca, capital of the province of Azuay. Historically, in the beginning it was part, first, of Santiago de Guayaquil Catholic University and then at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. In 1990, after complying with all legal requirements was recognized as Universidad del Azuay by Republic Act. In 2006 it was established in the first Ecuadorian university in achieving Acreditaciónpor the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, CONEA
