1708 The University of San Buenaventura was founded by the Franciscan community in the province of Santa Fe of Colombia as Colegio Mayor de San Buenaventura. 1747 He began work under the direction of Father Franciscan Friar Diego Barroso and was adopted on 19 September by the Royal Decree of Fernando VI. Students linked to this initiative adelantaban his studies at the same Colegio Mayor where they had their hosting to get any of the permitted degrees in arts, philosophy and theology. In particular, the College of San Buenaventura was more open in admitting students, ie priests, Spanish, children of Spaniards or civilians in general were always responding to the Franciscan concern to provide education to those who had all possibilities to access this service.
