The University of Pamplona was born in 1960 as a private institution under the leadership of Priest José Faria Bermúdez. In 1970 it was turned into public university departmental, Decree No 0553 of 5 August 1970 and in 1971 the Ministry of Education empowered to award the professional qualifications according to Decree No. 1550 of August 13
During the sixties and seventies, the University grew in line training for graduates in most of the areas that should be addressed in education: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Sciences, Education, Educational Administration, Languages foreign, Spanish - Literature and Physical Education.In the eighties the institution made the jump to the professional training in other fields of knowledge, which began in the late stage of the decade with the Food Technology Program.
