The Universidad de Los Lagos is an institution of character state, autonomous and regional, serving the community since August 30, 1993, when it was created by law 19,238, under the government of President Patricio Aylwin Azócar. However and despite the youth of his current nomination, this university has a long history with settlement in the city of Osorno, X Region of Los Lagos. First, as home to the University of Chile, since 1965, and later, as of 1981, as Professional Institute of Osorno.
