The University of Boyaca is a private, coeducational university based in the city of Tunja, Boyacá, Colombia.
Boyacá University was founded in the city of Tunja the September 22, 1979, with the desire for a native Guateque scholar, Dr. Osmar Correal Cabral, and Bogota economist Dr. Rosita Payeras Cuervo. According to the "Founding" notarized by Deed No.1777 of October 17, 1979 at the Second Notary of Tunja, "Dr. Osmar Correal Cabral, promoter of the initiative, gave a detailed presentation on the need for an institution education, for the excellence of their academic work were to become the first private institution of higher education in Boyaca, he was able to train and specialize human resources required for its development and serve to channel the teaching vocation and research professionals who have agreed to be bound to the company.
