The University of Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano was founded in 1954 as a response both to the historical moment and the needs that the country had natural resources. The ravages of violence, the dictatorship of Rojas Pinilla and the crisis induced University Joaquín Molano Campuzano, Javier Pulgar Vidal and Jaime Forero Valdes to create an institution to train "new generation devoid of sectarianism, fanaticism and hatred, with a conscience full of the immeasurable value of human and natural resources "(J. Molano). On February 5, 1954 Tadeo then founded the order to "continue the cultural and scientific work begun by the Botanical Expedition." The name of Jorge Tadeo Lozano be explained by the Botanical Expedition of the New Kingdom of Granada the paradigm that encouraged the founders, by academic and scientific merit, as Jorge Tadeo Lozano was linked not only to the issue as a zoologist, but also what It was, in Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in the department of chemistry and actively participate in the cause of independence of Nueva Granada, and for being Joaquín Molano descendant of Joaquin Gomez Hoyos husband of Mary Tadea Lozano and Isasi, widow of Jorge Tadeo Lozano.
