Central University is constituted as an institution of higher education in accordance with all legal parameters of the Ministry of Education. Their internal organization follows the General Statute and academic life depends on the Institutional Educational Project.
This institution was founded in 1966 by a group of renowned Colombian educators seeking to expand access to higher all sectors of society education. On June 30 of that year, Raul Vasquez Velez, Ruben Reyes Amaya, Carlos Medellin, Alberto Gomez Moreno, Eduardo Mendoza Varela, Elberto Tellez Camacho, Jorge Enrique Molina and Darío Samper signed the charter of the Central University Foundation. Since then, it provides a comprehensive education to its students, where their efforts have focused on ethics, humanistic and scientific training of these, as well as knowledge and identification of the social reality of the country.
