Our educational project began in 1982 with the creation of the Professional Institute of Higher Blas Cañas, an institution that was founded with the strong support of Cardinal Raul Silva Henriquez.
In 1990 the Ministry of Education approves its operation as Blas Cañas University and in 1993 the Episcopal Conference of Chile recognized as Catholic, sitting next to the Salesians of Chile as active partners of the institution. In 1999, following the amendment of the General Statutes, the Salesians take over the senior management of the establishment and change of name to Catholic University Cardinal Raul Silva Henriquez is authorized. Four years later obtained full autonomy and 2006 the Episcopal Conference transferred all management at the University of the Salesian Congregation.
