The Catholic University of Tachira oriented knowledge of its history, its mission, vision, its symbols and its Institutional Plan, towards a commitment to each and every one of the members of the university community with the rationale of the University : a community of spiritual interests gathered in the ongoing task of seek and find the truth, determined to strengthen the transcendent value of the person, with a strong spirit of dialogue, pluralism, democracy, social justice and human solidarity.
The Catholic University of Táchira is an institution of higher education born from the apostolic boldness of the Diocese of San Cristobal who saw the need for this instrument of evangelization of culture in the Tachira region. It received the support and commitment of the Society of Jesus, through the Catholic University Andres Bello, who a few years after it was founded, in 1953, set out to start the Táchira Extension (UCABET) established by resolution National Universities Council dated July 10, 1962. the extension began operations on September 22, 1962, becoming the first institution of higher education in Tachira state.
