This college was established on May 17, 1962, at the request of the pro Catholic university board presiding Bishop. César Antonio Mosquera Corral, Archbishop of Guayaquil, the jurist Dr. Leonidas Ortega Moreira and Father Joachim Flor Vásconez SJ who were the founders authorities, as Chancellor, first director and adviser, respectively.
The Constitutional President of the Republic, Dr. Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy, by the respective Executive Resolution # 936, they approved the statute, and the Ministry of Education authorized its operation by Resolution # 1158. At that time, among others, acted in Governmental Body Dr. Santiago Castle Barredo, Mr. Francisco Amador Ycaza, Archbishop Antonio Bermeo, Bishop Rogerio Beauger...; Father Jorge Mesía SJ, Secretary of the governing body and Dr. Fausto Idrovo Arcentales, secretary general. Dr. Héctor Romero Menéndez (1962-1966), Father José Joaquín Flor (1862-1865) and Ing. Raul Maruri Diaz (1862-1863) were the founders of Jurisprudence, Philosophy and Engineering deans.
