The Catholic University of East was founded on February 11, 1982 by Monsignor Alfonso Uribe Jaramillo, bishop of the Diocese of Sonsón Rionegro, motivated to create an institution of higher education to respond effectively to the pressing needs of the community of Eastern Antioquia. It was recognized by the Ministry of Education as a University institution by Resolution No. 003278 of June 25, 1993. Our institution came at a time of cyclical development of Eastern Antioquia channeling not only the expectations of the region but also the positioning of new professionals in the Latin American context and finds its reason for being in the person as the center and raison d'etre of all his actions.
