The Indigenous Autonomous University of Mexico is a public institution of higher education in the state of Sinaloa , decentralized state government. It is the first institution in the country dedicated to addressing indigenous youth. Imparts higher education and scientific research performed resuscitation procedures applying to sustained social development. It has projects of ethnic revival and community development.
It was founded on December 5, 2001 from the Department of Ethnology at the University of the West campus Los Mochis . Since its inception has indigenous young people from different ethnic groups in the country (Chol, Mam, Zoque, Kakchikel, Tzeltal, Tzotzil, Mazahua, Zapotec, mizteco, Purepecha, Nahua, Cora, pima, Rarámuri yoreme of Sinaloa , yoreme of Sonora , yoreme jia'ki, among others), ethnic groups in Nicaragua and Ecuador .
