The Autonomous University of Beni "José Ballivián" was created by Republic Act No 352 of 18 November 1967, preceded by the job creation developed by a Pro-University Committee consisting of eminent personalities of Beni; visionaries who achieved the state support for the creation of the first University of Beni with the name of Technical University of Beni "Mariscal José Ballivián" a name for the second mandate Internal Congress, endorsed by the Republic Act No. 3030 2005 changed to the Autonomous University of Beni "José Ballivián".
UAB is headquartered in the city of the Holy Trinity Capital of Beni and its academic structure is present in the eight provinces of the Department, generating an enrollment of over 15,000 students annually.UAB is a university that is part of the public system of higher education in Bolivia, under the coordination of the Executive Committee of the Bolivian University (CEUB). It is equal in rank than other universities in the system is autonomous and recognized by mandate of art. 185 to 187 of the State Constitution. With 38 years of service, the UAB has 8 faculties and 25 races at level degree, 5 and 3 Technician level to medium technical level.
