Early in the history of the city of Bethlehem, by the seventeenth century, it is said that where the "campus" Alcindo Cacela, home of the University of the Amazon, indigenous docked boats and riverside people. In choppy City by streams and flooded forest, our settlers took this area as a small forward port, communication center as rivers of the Amazon, receiver and distributor of subsistence genres, produced in the state of Pará.
The time has passed. Civilization has progressed into the rivers. Everyone spoke, when the first lands were purchased, circa 1974, that had not been acquired square meters in this area: the purchase had been cubic meters! It was a real "Venice", but served to the CESEP, then center of Pará State Higher Education before born in College Santa Rosa, to join in 1987, the Integrated College Modern Colleges to write together the history very soon the UNESPA - Union of Pará Schools - soon transformed in 1993 at the University of the Amazon. The port of the first times, the riverside and indigenous craft, turned the port of knowledge and today no more one realizes the times of the Old Farm land a barn that survived in that pool.
