KADK is a higher education institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. A Rector, within the framework laid down by the Board, carries out the day-to-day management. KADK provides 3 main areas of education: architecture, design and conservation, spread across 7 departments.
The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Danish: Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi) has provided a practice-oriented complement to the scholarly investigation of the arts carried out at Danish universities for more than 250 years, playing a crucial part in the development of the distinctive tradition of the art of Denmark.The Royal Danish Academy of Portraiture, Sculpture, and Architecture in Copenhagen was inaugurated on 31 March 1754, and given as a gift to the King Frederik V on his 31st birthday.
