Taraclia State University "Gregory Tsamblak" - the first university among Bulgarian communities created by the Republic of Moldova President's Decree of March 30, 2004 was solemnly opened October 1, 2004 in the presence of the Presidents of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Vladimir Voronin and the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Georgi Parvanov.
Before the university tasked to become the educational and cultural center for young people of the Republic of Moldova, to promote the development of the Bulgarian Diaspora, preservation of the native language, history and traditions of the Bulgarian people. Another priority - depth study of the state language, which will enable the young generation of the region to participate fully in the economic, political and cultural life of the Moldovan society. University students receive state scholarship of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the sponsorship of the Republic of Bulgaria. The university successfully trained students of Bulgarian, Gagauz, Ukrainian, Russian and Moldovan nationalities.
