ovt. P.G. College, Barwani is celebrating its Golden Jubilee in the year 2007-08. Established as Victoria High School in 1933 in the reign of the then ruler Rana Devi Singhji of erstwhile Barwani state and upgraded as college in 1957, it has progressed to its present prestigious status of Postgraduate College acknowledged as “College of Excellence.” This long journey through the years has been full of pride and prestige and has brought many laurels to this institution. The huge Eagle- emblem of this college reaching out to wide horizon – a symbol of the flight of students in life explains the motto of this college. In early phase it had undergraduate courses in Humanities, Science, Commerce and Law and was promoted to postgraduate level in 1971. At present it is recognized as research centre in, Zoology, History, Commerce and Hindi. Several self-financed job oriented courses in various disciplines are also run by the college. Famous for its quality education and excellent results, students mostly tribal from in and around the adjoining areas of Barwani have been taking admission in this college. The alumni of this Alma Mater have been serving the country in various capacities in different professions across the country. The college has a well equipped library catering to the needs of students in their studies as well as in research. The students are also involved in different extension and co-curricular activities through NSS, NCC, Red Cross and WWF. There have been remarkable achievements in the field of sports too. The college is an examination centre for different MPPSC and aptitude exams for professional courses conducted by VYAPAM.
