Schenectady County Community College was officially established by the Schenectady County Board of Representatives on January 26, 1967, based in part on a study made by a citizens’ committee which showed a need for a community college in Schenectady County. In 1968, Governor Rockefeller appointed four Trustees. Following this, the Van Curler Hotel was purchased by the County and designated as the site for the College. Schenectady County Community College is a two-year college associated with the State University of New York located in Schenectady, New York.
