Rissho, one of the oldest private universities in Japan and possessing a long history and traditions, marked its 140th anniversary in 2012. Based on the three vows made by Nichiren in 1271, the founding spirit of our university was set by Tanzan Ishibashi, the 16th president of Rissho University and the 55th prime minister of Japan, in 1961.
Rissho exists for its students. To work for them is the most important obligation of our faculty. In an effort to achieve this overarching mission, we provide a meticulous and highquality education to all students so that they may be equipped, as well as possible, with stronger values, a greater sense of cultivation, and a high degree of professionalism.
