Punjab Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College, Patiala (PAMEC) was established by the Punjab Government in the early 1980s to impart ab-intio training in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME). The institute was approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, New Delhi vide their letter No 5-F-21/2521 dated 4th June, 1883. The scope of approval was in the Category “G” (Light Aircraft & Piston Engine) to impart the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (A.M.E.) training to students for obtaining Basic Licence in LA & CP Category. Punjab Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College, Patiala is an only Institute in India, which is also offering, a three years Diploma Course in Aeronautical Engineering & Aircraft Maintenance (AE & AM) recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Punjab State Board Of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh. Both the courses are conducted concurrently with the syllabus, approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation, New Delhi and Technical Teachers Training Institute, Chandigarh respectively. The syllabus for both the courses is same. No Extra fee is charged for the Diploma Course. The Institute has been approved in Mechanical stream (Aeroplane and Powerplants) comprising of Light Aero plane(LA), Heavy Aeroplane (HA), Piston Engine (PE) and Jet Engine (JE) by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, New Delhi wide their letter no PAMEC/ F- App/1114 dated 14th July, 2016 after completing all the basic requirements as per the conditions and requirements laid down by Director General of Civil Aviation, New Delhi in Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR).
