"The Catholic University, as a university, is an academic community, that, of rigorous and critical fashion, assists in the protection and development of human dignity and of a cultural heritage through research, teaching and various services offered to local, national and international communities.
The idea of creation of the University, appears in the first Eucharistic Congress of 1884. In this Assembly, held in the same year of the enactment of the 1420 Act, a decision was given in favor of freedom of education in the order secondary and tertiary. Furthermore it vowed by the foundation of a Catholic University, vested with the power to confer academic degrees in various faculties, in which Catholic doctrine is taught in its entirety.
