Osaka Ohtani University is a private university in Tondabayashi, Osaka, Japan. The school was established in 1966 as a junior women's college. In 2006 it became coeducational, adopting the present name
"Osaka Ohtani University continues its tradition from Ohtani Women’s University and became co-educational with the founding of the Faculty of Pharmacy in 2006. The university has developed to its present status of four faculties, six departments and a graduate school. Next year, the university will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The spirit of the university is derived from the concept of ‘Repaying Gratitude’ as taught in Mahayana Buddhism. The spirit of ‘Gratitude’ is based on the idea that the life of an individual is supported by the lives of many so that an individual is able to live through a greater existence. This spirit of ‘Gratitude’ purifies the individual and the ‘Repaying’ of gratitude provides people with strength in their day to day endeavors"
