Establishment of Muria Kudus University began in March 1980 with the negotiations between Kopertis Region V (now Kopertis VI) with the Regional Government of the Holy. The result of the agreement is the establishment of a university approved by the Coordinator Kopertis Region V, supported by the ability of the Holy Regent (Bp. Wimpie Hardono) as the Regional Executive to provide an area of 6 hectares located in the village of Gondangmanis, District Bae, Kudus. This effort is more evident with the participation of entrepreneurs in the role of the Holy and surrounding areas. As the organizing body is the Foundation Trustees of the University of Muria Kudus. To the implementation of the transfer of STE to the University, Holy Regents commissioned the University of Muria Kudus Establishment Team consisting of: Soewarno, SH (deceased) Drs. Sardjono Hasri (deceased) D. Sunarjo, SH Soegito MW, BSc (deceased) Drs. Edi Sardjono, MM The task of the team is to prepare everything that includes the terms and administration as a condition for the establishment of the university. From the work of the team assigned, then on June 9, 1980 Kopertis Region V (now Kopertis VI) in Central Java confirmed the founding of the University of Muria Kudus by Decree No. 029 / K / Kep / VI / 1980 which was inaugurated on June 12, 1980 with the name of Muria Kudus University. Faculties and departments that existed at the time of Muria Kudus University established are as follows: 1. Faculty of Economics Department of Management 2. Faculty of Law, Department of Legal Studies 3. The Faculty of Education majors: a. Education / Educational Psychology and Guidance (Guidance and Counseling) b. Department of Language and Arts / Education English. C. Development of the Faculty and Program (1980 - 2012) In 1982 it opened the Faculty of Agriculture with a major in Agriculture. Registered status was obtained from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia on 29 November 1984 under No. 061.0 / 1984. In 1997 it opened the Faculty of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering Study Program Diploma III (D3) and Electronics Engineering Program Diploma III (D3). Both of these courses Registered status by the Director General of Higher Education Decree 48 / DIKTI / Kep / 1997 dated March 14, 1997.
