Manado State University, abbreviated UNIMA is a public university located in North Sulawesi. UNIMA is located in a mountainous area of Minahasa District, 800 meters above sea level and about 40 km from Manado, the provincial capital. UNIMA has an area of 270ha with cold temperatures (24-270C), and reaches 180C at night, so the atmosphere becomes more conducive to learning. UNIMA derived from College of Teacher Education (PTPG) - one of the four PTPG established first in Indonesia, namely PTPG Batusanggkar, PTPG Malang, PTPG Bandung, PTPG Tondano, based on the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2450 / KB / 1955 dated September 22 1955. PTPG Tondano undergone various changes: to become first FKIP Hasanuddin University, Makassar, and then turned into FKIP Unhas Tondano Manado, FKIP Unsulutteng, IKIP Yogyakarta branch of Manado, Manado Teachers' Training College and the latter being a stand-alone based on Decree No. 38 dated PTIP March 8, 1965 in conjunction with Presidential Decree No. 275 of 1965 dated 14 September 1965. On 13 September 2000, converted into the Teachers' Training College Manado Manado State University by decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 127 of 2000 and was inaugurated by the Minister of National Education Republic of Indonesia Mr. Yahya Iskandar on October 14 2000.
