Established in 1968, Laramie County Community College is a full-service, comprehensive community college with campuses in Cheyenne and Laramie and outreach centers at F.E. Warren Air Force Base and in Pine Bluffs. A wide range of academic, career/technical and community education programs is provided. One of the founding faculty members of LCCC was former Republican State Representative Robert Schliske (1924–2007), who served in the state House from 1971-1975. Schliske began at LCCC as dean of vocational-technical education and thereafter as dean of instruction. Among scholarships offered at LCCC are two named in honor of Robert and Rosalind Schliske and J. Arling and Edvina Wiederspahn. The Schliske award is for study in mass media. Arling Wiederspahn was a longtime trustee of LCCC, a mortician, and a former Laramie County coroner.
