Jinwen University of Science and Technology (JUST) was originally established and named as Jin-Wen College in 1980. It was subsequently upgraded into Jin-Wen Institute of Technology in 1998, as the first Institute of Technology for higher education in the Taipei region.
In August of 2002, fifteen experts and professionals in various fields were selected and appointed by the Ministry of Education and formed a non-profit Board of Trustees chaired by the attorney-at-law Ms. Ching-Feng Wang. Furthermore, Dr. Wen-Shion Chang, the former founding president of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology was selected and appointed to be the chairman of the Board of Trustees from August, 2005 until now. In August of 2006, Dr. Yung-Fu Cheng, the former vice-president of National Taipei University of Technology as well as a reputable scholar in technological universities and colleges was invited by the Board of Trustees to be the incumbent president. And it was renamed into Jinwen University of Science & Technology in February of 2007.
