ISIA - acronym for Institute for Artistic Industries (Industrial Design) - is the first public school of design established by the Ministry of Education, with Instruction no. 3700 of 2 July 1973. It draws its origins from the experimental teaching of the previous Course in Industrial Design and Visual Communication, active in Rome between 1965 and 1970. The makers and founders of the historical experience was Giulio Carlo Argan, historian and university professor of international renown, who was the first President of the Scientific Educational, and the sculptor Aldo Calo, who was the first director of the institution.
