The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (IPP) is a public institution of higher education. Has four schools: the School of Education (ESE), the School of Technology and Management (ESTG) and the School of Health (ESS), in Portalegre, and the Agrarian School in Elvas (ESAE)." The IPP was legally created in 1980 but started its operation, with the appointment of the first installation commission president, only in 1989. The ESE began its activities in 1985, ESTG in 1989 and ESAE in 1995. The current ESS (former School of Nursing) integrated IPP in 2001. In its four schools, IPP offers several undergraduate and master's degree courses and postgraduate courses and technological specialization courses.
